Karen James is a nationally recognized LMT and an national Board Certified Therapeutic Massage Bodyworker with twenty seven years of therapeutic massage experience. After graduating from Seattle Massage School/Ashmeade College in 1997, Karen soon developed a passion for providing Oncology Massage to cancer patients and survivors, a highly specialized field. Karen has a membership of the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM) and the American Massage Therapy Association(AMTA).
Karen holds a Masters in Medical Massage at a Level 10, and has been a mentor in Oncology Massage with the highest level of advanced training, while doing presentations throughout the state and offered her skills as a volunteer at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for 10 years.
She is a resource for the media, having promoted Oncology massage on King 5 Health Link, Channel 5 News, and to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Karen is a member of the Government Relations Committee for the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). She is also an active public member of the Washington State Massage Board and participates in government relations yearly with the AMTA and Massage Awareness Days (MAD) Committees.
Patients come from well beyond the Seattle and Snohomish areas and out of state or country to receive customized oncology massage, medical massage, neuromuscular re-education, intra-oral massage, Thai massage on the table, and manual lymphatic drainage.
Karen likes to participate in activities such as roller-skating, chess, dancing, golfing, swimming, skiing and other family fun. She was assistant coach for the Edmonds Community College women’s volleyball team. Prior to becoming a massage practitioner, she attended Cornish Art Institute and Western Washington University.
